Isabel is a registered nurse who currently works in a SPED classroom. As an autistic woman, Isabel has a personal knowledge of how disability impacts the individual as well as their caregivers and loved ones. Her unique perspective is what drives her desire to act as an advocate for individuals with disabilities as well as their families. Isabel believes education, inclusion, and celebration of all abilities create a healthier, safer, and richer community for all. Through the Rising Lights Project, Isabel hopes to positively impact adults with disabilities and create an environment where they are understood, heard, and seen.

Mike Backer and his family have lived in the Fox Valley for close to 30 years. He and his wife Colleen have 6 children and reside in St Charles. Mike recently completed a 40 year career in education as a teacher, coach and principal at the elementary, middle and high school levels. His career began as a special education teacher; working to support the educational, social, emotional and personal needs of all his students.
